Our Community
The Eastern Shore of Virginia is a 52 mile long peninsula nestled in between the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. Our two counties comprise the lower third of the Delmarva Peninsula, below Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Our barrier islands, seaside and bayside water access as well as Assateague Island National Park and Kiptopeke State Park provide many areas of enjoyment for residents and visitiors to our scenic area.
We have excellent school systems in both Accomack and Northampton Counties. There is also a local private school, Broadwater Academy for grades K-12.
While we are a rural community with agriculture and tourism as our major industries, we also have an assortment of cultural opportunities. The Richmond Ballet and Virginia Symphony are annual visitors to the Shore. Local groups such as the North Street Play House, ESO Art Center and the Arts Council host a variety of events throughout the year. We are only 1 hour away from the Tidewater Region of Virginia. Washington D.C., Baltimore, MD and Richmond, VA are also within a 4 hour drive.
